Legends Real Estate School is accredited by the Texas Real Estate Commission. To get a real estate license in the state of Texas, you must complete 210 classroom hours in real estate or related courses. This is usually accomplished by seven 30-hour courses in real estate. At least 150 hours must be in core real estate courses. Core real estate courses are those courses of at least 30 hours approved by the Texas Real Estate Commission for Texas licensure. Required Core Courses
# 0111 Principles of Real Estate 1 # 0112 Principles of Real Estate 2 # 1111 Law of Agency # 1200 Law of Contracts
The courses can be taken in ANY order.
Elective Core Courses
# 0411 Real Estate Finance # 0523 Psychology of Marketing # 0533 Marketing - High Tech # 0711Brokerage # 0811 Property Management # 1021 Home Inspection for Real Estate Agents
The courses can be taken in ANY order.
VERY IMPORTANT: 60 classroom hours may be from college courses. 1 semester college hour equals 15 real estate classroom hours.
Examples:
A 3-semester hour college course translates into 45 real estate classroom hours.
Two 3-semester hour college courses translate into 90 real estate classroom hours; however, you get credit for only 60 real estate classroom hours.
A 4-semester hour college course translates into 60 real estate classroom hours. Upon the first renewal (Salesperson Annual Education), another 60 hours in elective core courses must be completed. These courses are defined in the Provisions of the Real Estate License Act (TRELA), Chapter 1101, Texas Occupations Code Section 1101.003 and the Rules of the Texas Real Estate Commission, Section 535.69.
There are three ways to take your courses, in the classroom, online or by correspondence.
Classroom: These classes are conducted onsite with the benefit of having a qualified instructor to assist you every step of the way. This personalized method affords you the opportunity to have personal explanations of complex concepts and guidance on passing exams.
This is a tried and true method if what you are looking for is to really learn something about the business of real estate in addition to just passing the exam.
The attendance requirements are only that you are present when class is in session in order to meet the requirements for taking the exam for the course.
Online: This version is for those who are comfortable with the book version of a topic only and don't feel they need personal delivery of an instructor. After your education is completed Upon completion of your 210 hours, you must have your education documents evaluated. Copies of your Legends Real Estate School certificates will suffice. A copy of your official transcript should be used for your college hours. Use the TREC evaluation Document to request evaluation from the Texas Real Estate Commission. Caution: Do not send the license application form along with the evaluation request. This will only delay your paperwork. One of the reasons is that you have the option of making application online and there should be no duplication of paperwork.
Making Application Once TREC has evaluated your education documents and granted you the necessary hours, you may now make application for licensure. You may do so by completing the TREC Application Form or by completing the same application form online. If you have already chosen a broker, the Sponsorship Form may be sent at the same time you send your application. If applying online, this must be done separately, as it will require original signatures.
The Real Estate Exam TREC will, upon approving your application for licensure, send you information so that you can make an appointment to take the real estate exam. You will receive an ID number and you must use this number in calling PSI for an exam appointment. Payment must be made before you sit for the exam. You must successfully pass both sections of the real estate examination - the national portion and the state portion. If you fail one portion, you may retake that portion only. You need not retake the whole examination again. PSI will inform you of your results immediately upon completion of the exam. You may take the examination as many times as is necessary to pass but each attempt will require another fee. Once the examination is wholly passed, PSI will electronically notify TREC of your success. TREC will then complete the final portion of your application and your license will be mailed to the address you have supplied.
